Indigenous Art

Indigenous art

Making art from indigenous objects and leaving it in the landscape to which it relates is one of man’s earliest creative activities.  Much of what I make involves rearranging stones, vegetation or fibre and the resulting artwork is transient in nature, very much at the mercy of the weather and the decay of its component parts.   This short-lived existence and the knowledge that anyone who comes across it will do so by serendipity rather than intent underpins my interpretation of metaphysical features of landscape.   I love the idea of enabling fellow pilgrims to come across art in unexpected places.
